Respect for Environment
We would like to emphasize that it would be wise to follow the
reasonable way of science regarding the relation of plastics and
environment and it is very important to implement the state of the
art technologies implemented in world in our country as well.
Environmental dimension of plastics is presented under in main
titles:
• The contamination created by plastics is relative and
environmental pollution will be prevented if the consumer collects
the plastic within a discipline after using, environmental pollution
will be prevented. This discipline will be achieved by the laws to
be enforced by the governments, efficient control of the
municipalities, enforcing the manufacturers’ compliance of laws and
the training of end-user, namely the people, by every kind of visual
and written press and internet tools.
• Benefits of plastics for the nature should be told to people via
media. A person consumes oxygen produced by 18 adult pine tress all
his/her life. If this person owns a car this quantity is 24 trees.
So, everybody has to plant 18 trees in order to keep the oxygen
balance stable, smokers have to plant 20 trees. 20 tables and their
chairs can be made of an adult pine tree. Nowadays these are made of
PP and PE raw materials. Shortly, 20 of the plastic tables we see
around prevent cutting a pine tree. These examples can be increased.
Plastics are among the most important technological boons given to
humankind in 19th century.
• LCA (life cycle assessment) of plastics is generally higher than
tree and paper. The fact that physical endurance is low and
production costs are high prevent the commonly use of plastic which
can be deteriorated. As the LCA values of plastics are high,
developed technology has produced solutions as to recycle these or
turn them into energy. People should be made conscious and it should
be told that waste plastic is an energy source.
• Local governments should develop projects special to the area’s
needs together with the universities to separate plastics from the
trash or using them as energy. Some of our municipalities have
produced new projects in cooperation with foreign companies. Plastic
pallet can be manufactured instead of wooden pallets by reusing
waste plastics or paving stones, various separators and fences can
be manufactured.
• Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs,
Municipalities, Consumption Cooperatives and Plastic Industrialists
should come together regarding the reuse of plastic wastes and they
should establish the policy of the country. |
